Hampstead 85 Tabard 7
Tabard travelled to Hampstead with a somewhat make shift side due to injuries and unavailability and sadly leaked 13 tries, managing just one themselves. Tabard put up a valiant effort but the odds were always stacked against them with Hampstead using the sloping pitch to their advantage.
Tabard were unable to cope with the home side’s free flowing rugby which saw them take a commanding lead after 20 minutes. Tabard were not helped when they were given a yellow card just before half time for hands in the ruck and they turned round at half time 33 – 7 points down.
Tabard did well to contain their hosts despite being a man down at the start of the second half. Injuries however clocked up and Tabard went down to 14 at the midway point. This along with the inevitable fatigue allowed Hampstead to cut loose and the final score line was somewhat distorted as Hampstead scored six unanswered tries in the final quarter. Tabard did as well as they could have expected and credit should be given to some of the youngsters who put in encouraging performances, in particular Matt Ramzanpour, the Marcus and Morgan Bunning, Sam Stevens who was making his Tabard debut, and George Gough playing at scrum half.
