Harpenden were just too good for Tabard on Saturday, finally beating the home side by 75 points to three. To start with Tabard defended well until 10 mins into the game when Harpenden missed a golden chance as a massive overlap was squandered by Harpenden dropping the ball. 12 minutes into the game Harpenden finally got their first try after their winger fielded a Tabard kick and scored in the corner, despite which the conversion was added.
Just after Tabard lost a scrum on the halfway line, a facet of the game that Harpenden were really strong in and the Harpenden centre surged straight through the gap for the try, which was unconverted. This was followed a few minutes later as the Harpenden centres handled well for another score.
The second quarter was similar to the first with Harpenden running in another three tries to make the half time score 0 to 36 in the visitors favour. Tabard also began to feel the pressure as two players were injured and had to be replaced permanently.
The 2nd half started in heavy rain but did not stop Harpenden scoring a further 7 tries with mistakes from Tabard and good play from Harpenden counting for most of them as Tabard yielded under the pressure, bringing the final score to 75 points to nil.
