Tabard 0 Belsize Park 71
Tabard welcomed back several players from yesteryear for a pre match Christmas lunch attended by over 130 people. Unfortunately the returning players saw the current Tabard firsts come up against a Belsize Park side full of running who put Tabard to the sword in the second half.
Tabard more than matched their opponents in the first half however and showed real determination in defence when the visitors set up a good attack. It looked for all the world the Tabard line would be breached but holding on allowed Jack Reilly to kick clear. Tabard then started to play a bit, lead by a great defensive effort by Aaron Priscott and then by Jack Girdlestone, whose efforts saw the ball handed over to Tabard. Well past the 40 minute mark the Tabard pack were turned over and Park kicked behind the Tabard defence. James won the line out but somehow Park came away with the ball. This went down the line where a simple step inside allowed the visitors in for the first score after 45 minutes of play. Park were not finished and a catch and drive at a line allowed the visitors in for a second try taking the score to 0 -12 at half time.
The second half was one way traffic. Tabard found it difficult to cope with the hard running Belsize team who cut loose to score 9 unanswered tries as injuries began to take their toll. To their credit the team kept trying but were up against a side whose game came together in the second half. Next week Tabard travel to near neighbours Harrow, looking for a confidence boosting end to the year.
