Ivor was a hugely inspirational player/coach arriving at Tabard RFC in the early eighties. It wasn’t his first time at Cobden Hill however as he had already played there as a Borehamwood Grammar schoolboy in the early seventies.
A seriously imposing and talented No 8 he joined Tabard following impressive spells at Wasps and Saracens and was capped for the county fifteen times. Ivor was instrumental in putting Tabard on the map throughout the eighties and nineties with tremendous drive and an unwavering passion for winning.
At a time when the game was very different from the one we play today Ivor really did help players fulfill their ambitions both on and off the field. He was a Tabard legend in every sense.
Ivor suffered from sarcoidosis and Beverley, his wife, would like any donations to be made to Sarcoidosos UK via Just Giving. The link is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ivor-jones
