I am pleased to welcome you to the very first edition of ‘The Tabard Touchline’, a new monthly journal which I am sure you will find both interesting and informative. There is already a real buzz around the club and lots of ‘good news’ stories to read in this edition.
Over the summer months a group of volunteers representing all sections of the club have been working to raise awareness of Tabard by engaging with the wider community, through traditional and digital marketing, to attract new members and also to keep the existing membership informed. Just one result of this group’s efforts has been this newsletter, so we hope you enjoy it!
This a wonderful time of the year. The disappointments of last season have been truly forgotten and there is an air of nervous expectation and the hope that springs eternal at the beginning of every new rugby season.
The days when Tabard was gauged only by the success of its 1st XV are long gone. These days we are a small community club with strong family values, where success is measured, not by results on the pitch, but by the difference we make to the community in which we live. I have great expectations for the success of our club and I hope, when you read about the community initiatives that we are involved, in you will be as proud as I am to be a member of Tabard RFC.
Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the club in recent years. I hope to see you all at Cobden Hill on the 8th September, when we will be holding an event for all club members to celebrate the start of a new season and I look forward to buying you a drink!
Tabard RFC, Chairman
